The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Fukushima as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Fukushima edged 6th ranked Tokyo Z at home 71-68. South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: NM State) had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-90, college: Florida) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Ishmael Lane (203-97, college: NSU) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: DePaul) scored 3 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fukushima have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Koshigaya A. and Sendai 89ers. Tokyo Z lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Kagawa FA and Aomori W.. Tokyo Z will play next round against strong Sendai 89ers trying to get back on the winning streak. Fukushima will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo.
