The game in Chengdu supposed to be also quite interesting. 4th placed Flame (4-2) played at the court of sixth ranked Blue Whales (5-2). Blue Whales smashed Flame 92-68 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Flame. Blue Whales dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Flame's 36 and made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Flame 41-30 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for international Ting Shao (183-89) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points. The former international Song Song (188-92) helped adding 8 points and 13 rebounds. Blue Whales' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side international point guard Tongtong Wu (176-94) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and the former international point guard Zhifang Zhao (168-94) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Blue Whales moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Beijing and Xinjiang. Loser Flame dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Blue Whales will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Flame will play against Wuhan (#17) and hope to secure a win.
