Regular Season Round 5: Tigrillos - Sabios 80-62

Bottom-ranked Sabios (0-2) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-62 loss to sixth ranked Trigrillos (2-3) in on Friday evening. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Nick King (201-95, college: MTSU) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners and point guard Jamaal Smith (176-85, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard John Merchant (187-89, college: Dowling) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Jovonni Shuler (198-87, college: SSU) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trigrillos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Storm. Sabios at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with two games lost. Trigrillos will meet at home Storm (#5) in the next round. Sabios will play against Condores and look forward to get finally their first victory.
