Regular Season Round 5: Nova Ves - Samorin 40-82

Bottom-ranked Nova Ves (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 82-40 loss to fourth ranked Samorin (3-2) in Nova Ves on Saturday evening. They held Nova Ves to an opponent 21.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.8 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Samorin forced 30 Nova Ves turnovers. The former international guard Timea Sujova (172-84) stepped up and scored 18 points and 9 assists for the winners and naturalized Polish center Bianka Vaigl (180-95) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Samorin players scored in double figures. Sandra Pahulyova (175-0) responded with 15 points and Kamila Jarosova (176-3) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Samorin maintains fourth place with 3-2 record. Nova Ves lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Samorin will meet at home higher ranked Piestanske C. (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nova Ves will play against the league's second-placed Young Angels (#2) in Kosice and look forward to get finally their first victory.
