Regular Season Round 18: Fuerza Regia - Plateros 74-81

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Fuerza Regia (9-7) against fifth ranked Plateros (6-10) on Saturday night. Host Fuerza Regia was defeated by Plateros in a tough game in Monterrey 74-81. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. They outrebounded Fuerza Regia 41-24 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized American guard Aaron Perez (197-86, college: OKBU) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International point guard Kohl Meyer (193-93, college: Puget Sound) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Meyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Plateros players scored in double figures. Plateros' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) who recorded 16 points and 9 assists and Argentinian guard Nicolas Romano (200-87) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Plateros maintains fifth position with 6-10 record. Loser Fuerza Regia keeps the third place with seven games lost. Plateros will meet at home Correcaminos (#6) in the next round. Fuerza Regia will play against the league's leader Mineros in Zacatecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
