Regular Season Round 2: Portuense - Huelva CD 65-95

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Huelva CD (0-0) outplayed bottom-ranked Portuense (0-1) in El Puerto de Santa Maria 95-65 on Saturday. Huelva CD made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game, while Portuense only scored seven points from the stripe. Huelva CD forced 19 Portuense turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Portuense was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for center Sebastian Dominguez (207-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Javier Blanco (185) contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Huelva CD players scored in double figures. Carlos Martin replied with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Alejandro Valderrama added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Portuense. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Huelva CD went down to fifth position (Group D-B) due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams. Portuense at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with one game lost. Huelva CD will face Torta del Casar (#11) in Caceres in the next round where they are favorite.
