Regular Season Round 5: COR Victoria - Gomel 70-58

Everything could happen in Brest at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked COR Victoria and bottom-ranked Gomel had identical 0-3 record. This time COR Victoria used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Gomel 70-58 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by COR Victoria. Gomel was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. COR Victoria forced 30 Gomel turnovers. Forward Anastasia Babak (180-2) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Daria Panasyuk (176-96) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Maryna Rakauskaya-Minkevich (173-92) responded with 30 points and 9 rebounds and forward Anna Hatskevich (180-92) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 22 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. COR Victoria maintains sixth place with 1-3 record. It was Gomel's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. COR Victoria will face league's leader Gorizont in Minsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gomel will play at home against Gorizont 2 (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
