Regular Season Round 5: Miedzychod - Rydzyna 73-80

Everything went according to plan when leader Rycerze (5-0) won against on the road 5th ranked Miedzychod (2-1) 80-73 on Sunday. Miedzychod was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Mateusz Brek (192-94) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Point guard Dawid Brek (187-89) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Rycerze players scored in double figures. Point guard Damian Szymczak (186-95) produced 14 points and 7 assists and swingman Jakub Nowak (186-89) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Rycerze have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted Rycerze maintains first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Legia 2. Loser Miedzychod dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Rycerze will face Tarnovia (#7) in Tarnowo Podgorne in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Miedzychod will play on the road against Pleszew and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
