Regular Season Round 8: Tigrillos - Piratas 92-91

Eighth-ranked Piratas (0-7) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Trigrillos (4-4) on Thursday. Trigrillos managed to secure only one-point victory 92-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Trigrillos had a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center Chris Ware (203-89, college: Indiana Tech) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Jamaal Smith (176-85, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 20 points and 8 assists. Trigrillos' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center John-A Thomas (200-82, college: Columbus St.) produced 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Siaan Rojas (201-96, college: WWU) added 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals respectively for the guests. Five Piratas players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Trigrillos maintains fourth position with 4-4 record. Piratas at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Trigrillos are looking forward to face higher ranked Team Cali (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Piratas will play against Sabios (#7) and hope to get finally their first victory.
