Regular Season Round 5: Pyrinto - Seagulls 79-100

Date: October 30, 2020
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Pyrinto (4-1) in Tampere on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Seagulls (5-0) 100-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Pyrinto. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 60-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Seagulls dominated on the defensive end, holding Pyrinto to just 7 points in third quarter. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Seagulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Kendale McCullum (194-96, college: Lewis, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. The former international Antti Kanervo (193-89, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American Marcus Lewis (193-92, college: EKU) answered with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Brady Skeens (201-95, college: Washburn) added 17 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) in the effort for Pyrinto. Five Seagulls and four Pyrinto players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Seagulls have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Pyrinto at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Lahti. Seagulls will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pyrinto will play on the road against Vilpas in Salo and is hoping to win this game.
