Regular Season Round 5: KTP Basket - Nokia 90-95

Very important is a home loss of third ranked KTP Basket (3-2) against fifth ranked Nokia (3-2) on Friday night. Host KTP Basket was defeated by Nokia in a tough game in Kotka 90-95. It looked good early as KTP Basket took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nokia had a 28-23 second period charge getting the lead and KTP Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 90-95. American players dominated the game. Point guard Wes Washpun (185-93, college: N.Iowa) stepped up and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and guard Daeshon Francis (193-96, college: UTPB) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Joe Burton (203-90, college: Oregon St., agency: GoEmpire Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Five Nokia and four KTP Basket players scored in double figures. Nokia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with KTP Basket and Vilpas. Nokia will play against Kataja (#7) in Joensuu in the next round. KTP Basket will play on the road against Kouvot in Kouvola and hopes to get back on the winning track.
