Regular Season Round 11: GTK Gliwice - Slask 85-91

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked GTK (6-5) lost to ninth ranked Slask (5-3) in Gliwice 85-91 on Saturday. Slask made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Slask made 7 blocks. GTK was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian point guard Strahinja Jovanovic (185-96) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 6 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Bosnian-Croatian Ivan Ramljak (203-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) contributed with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Terry Henderson-Jr (196-94, college: NC State) answered with 24 points and the other American import forward Jordon Varnado (198-97, college: Troy) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for GTK. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Slask moved-up to eighth place. Loser GTK keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Slask will face higher ranked Wilki Morskie (#5) in Szczecin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
