There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Genero (1-3) edged bottom-ranked Aviles (0-2) in Las Palmas 62-59 on Saturday. It was a very good performance for Colombian guard Maria Delgado (173-96, college: Angelo St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). Forward Carolina Mateo (187-0) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Devon Brookshire (188-94, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: DC Sports) replied with 19 points and 4 steals and forward Elisabet Lopez-Sagrera (188, college: Pacific) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Aviles. Genero left bottom position moving up to tenth place in Group A, which they share with Plasencia. Loser Aviles still closes the standings with two games lost. Genero will face league's second-placed Ardoi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aviles will play against GDKO Bizkaia (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
