Regular Season Round 6: Lublin - Sosnowiec 86-68

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Sosnowiec (1-3) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Lublin (2-3) 86-68 on Saturday. Lublin forced 20 Sosnowiec turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Italian forward Martina Fassina (183-99) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Italian point guard Ilaria Milazzo (170-94) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Lublin players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jessica January (170-95, college: DePaul) with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American-British guard Sydney Wallace (173-93, college: Georgia Tech) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lublin moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Sosnowiec dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Lublin will face higher ranked Gorzow Wlkp. (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sosnowiec will play against Gorzow Wlkp. (#5) and hope to win that game.
