There was no surprise in Lugo where 14th ranked Socinsa Bembibre (1-7) was defeated by eleventh ranked Maquinaria Ensino (4-5) 70-65 on Saturday. Maquinaria Ensino dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Socinsa Bembibre's 24. They outrebounded Socinsa Bembibre 28-17 including 23 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Merritt Hempe (190-94, college: Georgia) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and center Chatrice White (190-96, college: FSU) chipped in 11 points. The best for the losing side was forward Dee Givens (185-97, college: WKU) with 16 points and forward Sara Rhine (185-96, college: Drake) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Socinsa Bembibre's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Cadi La Seu and IDK Eustotren. Socinsa Bembibre lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Zamarat and Al-Qazeres. Maquinaria Ensino will meet higher ranked Argon Uni Girona (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
