Rather expected game when 11th ranked Gliwice 2 (1-5) lost to eighth ranked AZS PWSTE (3-2) in Jaroslaw 67-83 on Saturday. AZS PWSTE dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gliwice 2's 30. AZS PWSTE forced 20 Gliwice 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 50-30 including a 42-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for Artur Mikolajko (196-79) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Cezary Guminski (192-94) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five AZS PWSTE players scored in double figures. Guard Norbert Maciejak (180-2) replied with 23 points and 6 assists and swingman Aleksander Wisniewski (192-3) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gliwice 2. Gliwice 2's coach Andrzej Bartosz rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. AZS PWSTE have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Gliwice 2 lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. AZS PWSTE will face AZS PCz (#8) in Czestochowa in the next round where they are favorite. Gliwice 2 will play at home against UR Krakow and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
