Regular Season Round 6: Chelmno - Koszalin Zak 70-99

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Chelmno (3-2) against fifth ranked Koszalin Zak (3-1) on Saturday night. Host Chelmno was crushed by Koszalin Zak in Chelmno 99-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chelmno. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Koszalin Zak dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Chelmno's 40. Koszalin Zak forced 19 Chelmno turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Chelmno's players. The best player for the winners was guard Marcin Zarzeczny (195-87) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 assists. Point guard Maciej Szewczyk (164-4) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Daniel Belski (191-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Norbert Jastak (196-98) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Koszalin Zak have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Miedzychod and MKS DG 2. Newly promoted Chelmno dropped to the third position with two games lost. Koszalin Zak's next round opponent will be Ogniwo Szcz. (#4) in Szczecin. Chelmno will play on the road against Trefl 2 Sopot and hope to win that game.
