Regular Season Round 10: Piratas - Storm 110-91

Piratas has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Storm (3-7) 110-91. Piratas made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) notched 50 points (!!!) (on 17-of-21 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import swingman Siaan Rojas (201-96, college: WWU) supported him with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by international power forward Luis Almanza (196-91) did not help to save the game for Storm. Dominican forward Jose Familia (201-98) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Storm's coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Piratas maintains eighth position with 1-8 record. It was Storm's fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. Piratas will play against higher ranked Condores (#5) in Cundinamarca in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Storm will play at home against Team Cali and hopes to get back on the winning track.
