Regular Season Round 6: HBA-Marsky - ToPo 66-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Helsinki: Torpan Pojat (#7) and HBA-Marsky (#6). HBA-Marsky was defeated at home 66-72 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-11. But HBA-Marsky won second period 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Torpan Pojat won last quarter 19-15. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Forward Ida Myllyoja (180-96) notched 7 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and point guard Hanna Valkeinen (170-87) supported her with 24 points. Even 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by international Janette Aarnio (181-2) did not help to save the game for HBA-Marsky. Swingman Emerita Mashaire (180-1) added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Torpan Pojat (3-3) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Honka and Kouvot. HBA-Marsky at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Torpan Pojat will play against ViVe (#9) in Vimpeli in the next round where they are favorite. HBA-Marsky will play on the road against Kouvottaret in Kouvola and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
