Very predictable result when top-ranked Perfumerias Avenida (10-0) rolled over 13th ranked Gran Canaria (2-8) in Las Palmas 92-70. American-British swingman Katie Samuelson (190-97, college: UConn, agency: Wasserman) scored 18 points to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: UConn) chipped in 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) responded with 20 points and 5 assists and her fellow American import center Kai James (196-95, college: FSU) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Valencia. Newly promoted Gran Canaria keeps the thirteenth place with eight games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Zaragoza (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gran Canaria will play against ASEFA Estudiantes (#6) in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
