Regular Season Round 7: Korihait - Nokia 65-101

Bottom-ranked Korihait (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 101-65 loss to fifth ranked Nokia (5-2) in Uusikaupunki. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Nokia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Nokia players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Korihait helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American center Khaliq Spicer (206-94, college: Kent St.) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Antero Lehto (185-84) accounted for 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Nokia players scored in double figures. Coach Greg Gibson's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Trey Zeigler (198-91, college: TCU) came up with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import center Sal Nuhu (203, college: Portland St.) added 9 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for Korihait in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Nokia. They moved-up to second place, which they share with KTP Basket and Pyrinto. Korihait lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Nokia will have a break next round. Korihait will play on the road against Kouvot (#10) in Kouvola and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
