Regular Season Round 7: Sudety - Zary 61-89

Rather expected game in Jelenia Gora where 5th ranked Sudety (4-3) was crushed by leader Zary (5-0) 89-61 on Saturday. Zary forced 19 Sudety turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zary made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for Jakub Der (192-96, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Mariusz Malachowski (194-85) helped adding 16 points. At the losing side power forward Pawel Minciel (203-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Michal Kozak (179-92) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Zary. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tur Bielsk Pdl. and Notec Inowr. Loser Sudety dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Zary will face Katy Wroc. (#5) in Katy Wroclawskie in the next round. Sudety will play on the road against Poznan and hope to win that game.
