Regular Season Round 7: Vilpas - Kauhajoki 68-74

There was a small surprise in Salo where seventh ranked Kauhajoki (4-3) defeated 4th placed Vilpas (4-3) 74-68. Vilpas was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 44-34 second half run of Kauhajoki. Strangely Vilpas outrebounded Kauhajoki 43-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. It was an exceptional evening for forward Collin Malcolm (200-97, college: WPU) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. TJ Holyfield (203-95, college: Texas Tech) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Malcolm is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Inception Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Myles Stephens (196-97, college: Princeton) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Vilpas in the defeat. Kauhajoki moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Vilpas. Kauhajoki's next round opponent will be Kobrat (#9) in Lapua.
