Regular Season Round 10: Ibaraki R. - Koshigaya A. 101-91

The biggest surprise took place in Mito where host Ibaraki R. (8-2) beat league's leader Koshigaya A. (7-3) 101-91 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Koshigaya A.. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Ibaraki R. made 24-of-25 free shots (96.0 percent) during the game, while Koshigaya A. only scored six points from the stripe. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Koshigaya A. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) fired 25 points for the winners. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 20 points (made all of his seven free throws). Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: App State) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Shunki Hatakeyama (170-91) added 20 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Ibaraki R. and five Koshigaya A. players scored in double figures. Ibaraki R. have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gunma and Saga B. Koshigaya A. at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Sendai 89ers and Fukushima. They were replaced at the leadership position by Saga B.. Koshigaya A. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Ibaraki R. will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Koshigaya A. in Tokyo.
