The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Leche Rio Breogan as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Gold. Leche Rio Breogan defeated 5th ranked Valladolid in Lugo 87-82. Leche Rio Breogan made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Valladolid was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Lithuanian forward Mindaugas Kacinas (204-93, college: S.Carolina) who scored that evening 9 points and 10 rebounds and Danish center Kevin Larsen (207-93, college: GWU) supported him with 16 points (made all of his eight free throws). Four Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 5 rebounds by the former international forward Nacho Martin (202-83) did not help to save the game for Valladolid. Center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) added 20 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Valladolid at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. Valladolid will play next round against strong Caceres Basket trying to get back on the winning streak. Leche Rio Breogan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
