Regular Season Round 5: Ardoi - Genero 75-47

Very expected game when 10th ranked Genero (1-4) was crushed on the road by leader Ardoi (4-0) 75-47 on Saturday. Ardoi dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Genero's 26. Ardoi forced 22 Genero turnovers and outrebounded them 44-25 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Deborah Ayela (186-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Amaya Gastaminza (189-91, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 12 points. Four Ardoi players scored in double figures. Ardoi's coach Jose Javier Unzue felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Carolina Mateo (187-0) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Colombian guard Maria Delgado (173-96, college: Angelo St.) scored 8 points. Ardoi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Barca CBS and Unicaja. Loser Genero dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost. Ardoi will face Aviles (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Genero will play against the league's leader Ferrol and hope to win that game.
