Fifth-ranked Osaka E. (4-8) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Akita Happinets (8-4) on Sunday. Akita Happinets managed to secure only one-point victory 73-72. However their fans expected easier game. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Akita Happinets made 8 blocks. It was a good game for Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Alex Davis (206-92, college: Fresno St.) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks for the winners. Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Akita Happinets' coach Kenzo Maeda used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import guard DJ Newbill (193-92, college: Penn St.) added 16 points and 7 assists in the effort for Osaka E.Akita Happinets moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Osaka E. at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Akita Happinets is looking forward to face league's leader Tochigi B. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osaka E. will play against San-en NeoPhoenix (#10) in Hamamatsu and is hoping to win this game.
