Regular Season Round 4: Pas Pielagos - Filipenses 99-66

There was a surprise result in Renedo de Pielagos where top-ranked Pas Pielagos (1-0) outscored higher ranked Filipenses (1-2) 99-66 on Sunday. Pas Pielagos shot 62.3 percent from the field and made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Filipenses only scored six points from the stripe. Pas Pielagos forced 19 Filipenses turnovers. Filipenses was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Italian forward Ben Marello (198-95, college: FSC) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Sergio Iglesias (193-92) who added 19 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Pas Pielagos players scored in double figures. At the losing side Brazilian-Portuguese Joao Gallina (192-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and forward David Melero (190-91) scored 17 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Pas Pielagos left bottom position moving up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Univ.Valladolid and Burgos Nissan. Loser Filipenses dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Pas Pielagos will face Cantbasket (#8) in Santander in the next round where they are favorite. Filipenses will play at home against Univ.Valladolid and hope to win that game.
