Regular Season Round 6: Llaneros - Gigantes 76-74

The biggest surprise took place in where host Llaneros (3-2) edged league's leader Gigantes (5-1) 76-74 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gigantes. 24 personal fouls committed by Gigantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Jesus Tovar (183-90) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Tulio Cobos (197-86, college: Northeastern St.) chipped in 21 points. Llaneros' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, agency: Pro Sports) who recorded 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and international center Miguel Bolivar (205-92) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Llaneros moved-up to sixth place. Gigantes at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Spartans. They were replaced at the leadership position by Guaiqueries. Gigantes will play next round against league's leader Guaiqueries trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Llaneros will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Spartans in Caracas.
