Regular Season Round 5: San Fernando - Penarroya 80-63

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked San Fernando (2-1) defeated at home 3rd placed Penarroya (2-1) 80-63 on Saturday. San Fernando forced 20 Penarroya turnovers. Penarroya was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Eugenio Martinez (182-1) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Manuel Ezomo (191-95) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four San Fernando players scored in double figures. Point guard Luis Rodriguez (181-94) produced 19 points and Senegalese center Alioune Fall (205-99) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. San Fernando moved-up to fourth place in Group D-B, which they share with Penarroya and Xerez. San Fernando will face Portuense (#9) in El Puerto de Santa Maria in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Penarroya will play at home against Enrique Benitez (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
