Regular Season Round 6: Segle XXI - Almeda 73-47

Everything went according to plan in Barcelona where eighth ranked Segle XXI (2-1) outleveled bottom-ranked Almeda (0-4) 73-47 on Saturday. Segle XXI dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Almeda's 20. Segle XXI forced 20 Almeda turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Marina Manosa (-4) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Gisela Sanchez (191-3) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Marina Avinoa who recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward Claudia Baraut (182-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Segle XXI moved-up to sixth place in Group C. Newly promoted Almeda still closes the standings with four games lost. Segle XXI will face Girona (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Almeda will play against Azulejos and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
