Regular Season Round 14: Kawasaki BT - Toyama G. 84-78

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Toyama G. (10-4) against fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (10-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Toyama G. was defeated by Toshiba Thunders in a tough game in Kanagawa 78-84. Strangely Toyama G. outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 45-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists during the contest. Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Toyama G. Toshiba Thunders will again meet at home Toyama G. (#4) in the next round. Toyama G. will have a break next round.
