Regular Season Round 8: Gliwice 2 - Polonia Bytom 56-71

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Polonia Bytom (7-0) won against on the road 10th ranked Gliwice 2 (2-6) 71-56 on Saturday. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gliwice 2's 26. Polonia Bytom forced 22 Gliwice 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 42-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Emil Podkowinski (194-88) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Polonia Bytom players scored in double figures. Guard Norbert Maciejak (180-2) produced 16 points and swingman Aleksander Wisniewski (192-3) added 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Polonia Bytom have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with AZS AGH KR and Legia 2. Newly promoted Gliwice 2 keeps the tenth place with six games lost. Polonia Bytom will face AZS PCz (#7) in Czestochowa in the next round where they are favorite. Gliwice 2 will play at home against Bielsko-Biala and hope to win that game.
