Regular Season Round 5: Tenerife Naut. - Tobarra 76-55

There was no surprise in Santa Cruz de Tenerife where bottom-ranked Tobarra (0-2) was crushed by leader Tenerife Naut. (2-0) 76-55 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Tobarra's 22. They outrebounded Tobarra 49-38 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Jorge Del-Pino (194-96) who scored 19 points and 6 assists. Danish David Hockerup (204-1) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Tenerife Naut.'s coach Susma Rodriguez felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Canadian point guard Marvin Binney (190-90, college: St.Mary's, TX) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Croatian-Canadian guard Jake Babic (196-95, college: TAMUCC) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Tenerife Naut. keeps a position of Group B-B leader, which they share with Real Madrid 2. Loser Tobarra still closes the standings with two games lost. Tenerife Naut. will face Pozuelo (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Tobarra will play against Boadilla and hopes to get finally their first victory.
