There was no surprise when Pato Basquete lost to SKY/Basquete in Pato Branco 69-76 on Saturday. SKY/Basquete outrebounded Pato Basquete 41-29 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Thiago Mathias (208-89, college: N.Mexico JC) contributed with 6 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. American guard Isaac Thornton (190-91, college: Fairmont St.) answered with 20 points and 4 assists and Victor Leal (203-96) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Pato Basquete. Five Pato Basquete players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. SKY/Basquete will face Minas in Belo Horizonte in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pato Basquete will play against UniFacisa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
