Regular Season Round 9: Gomel - SDUSHOR 114-39

Gomel has finally registered their first victory this season after six consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat SDUSHOR (0-8) 114-39. The game without a history. Gomel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to SDUSHOR's 28. Gomel forced 39 SDUSHOR turnovers and outrebounded them 47-29 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by SDUSHOR's players. Swingman Evgeniy Ribkin (194-96) nailed 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and guard Timofey Verevkin (187-93) accounted for 23 points and 4 assists. Five Gomel players scored in double figures. Point guard Andrey Ozhgo (182-5) came up with 11 points and Nikita Porohnenko added 8 points respectively for SDUSHOR in the defeat. SDUSHOR's coach Eduard Kemen gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Gomel maintains tenth place with 1-6 record. It was SDUSHOR's eighth loss in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Gomel will play against higher ranked Grodno GrSU (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SDUSHOR will play against Brest and hopes to get finally their first victory.
