Regular Season Round 5: OBA - Sykki 71-81

Everything could happen in Espoo at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Sykki and 8th ranked OBA had identical 1-3 record. But OBA was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Helsinki 81-71 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 43-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Sykki looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Kalle Koponen (192-2) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Vilho Juutinen (190-3) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Guard Veikka Koivisto (189-3) produced 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and center Gezim Bajrami (208-3) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four OBA players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sykki (2-3) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kataja. Loser OBA dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Sykki's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Helsinki HNMKY.
