Regular Season Round 13: Gunma - Kagawa FA 82-81

Eighth-ranked Kagawa FA (2-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Gunma (11-2). Gunma managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Brian Qvale (208-88, college: Montana) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Gunma's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) added 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Kagawa FA. Five Gunma and four Kagawa FA players scored in double figures. Gunma have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-2 record. Kagawa FA lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Tokyo Z. Gunma will play against league's second-placed Ibaraki R. in Mito in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kagawa FA will play at home against Orange Vikings (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
