Very important is a road loss of third ranked Rizing (7-6) against sixth ranked Yamagata (4-9) on Sunday night. Visiting Rizing was crushed by Yamagata in Yamagata 94-67. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Yamagata especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Andrew Randall (198-90, college: Temple) stepped up and scored 30 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners and point guard Seiji Kouno (172-89) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-91) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Toshio Kan (184-94) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Rizing's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Yamagata maintains sixth place with 4-9 record. Loser Rizing dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Yamagata will meet Tokyo Z (#7) on the road in the next round. Rizing will play against Aomori W. and hope to secure a win.
