Regular Season Round 6: Algeciras - Clavijo 69-77

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Clavijo (2-4) won against on the road bottom-ranked Algeciras (0-3) 77-69 on Sunday. Clavijo made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Algeciras turnovers. Algeciras was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Albert Lafuente (185-99, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. Point guard Jaume Lobo (180-97) contributed with 9 points for the winners. Nigerian center Bola Olaniyan (201-93, college: Alabama) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Gibraltar point guard Miguel Ortega (188-91) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Algeciras. Four Algeciras players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Clavijo moved-up to eighth place in Silver. Newly promoted Algeciras still closes the standings with three games lost. Clavijo will face Gijon (#14) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
