There was a surprise result in Lleida where ninth ranked Basquet (2-3) smashed higher ranked Real Murcia (2-3) 78-55 on Sunday. Basquet made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Real Murcia turnovers. The best player for the winners was Latvian point guard Kaspars Vecvagars (190-93) who scored 14 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Bosnian Mirza Bulic (207-92) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Four Basquet players scored in double figures. Nigerian forward Jeffrey Solarin (193-92, college: Idaho St.) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and guard Alejandro Hernandez (189-90) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Real Murcia's coach Rafael Monclova gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Basquet moved-up to fifth place in Gold. Basquet will face league's second-placed Castello in Castellon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Real Murcia will play at home against Real Canoe (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
