Regular Season Round 4: Bnei Hertzeliya - Maccabi T-A 86-92
Date: November 15, 2020
Bottom-ranked Bnei Hasharon (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-86 loss to top-ranked Maccabi T-A (2-0) in Hod Hasharon. They made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Bnei Hasharon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American point guard Chris Jones (188-93, college: Angelo St.) who scored that evening 17 points and 8 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and Greek-American guard Tyler Dorsey (196-96, college: Oregon, agency: Wasserman) supported him with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A's coach Giannis Sfairopoulos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: PFW) did not help to save the game for Bnei Hasharon. His fellow American import forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas) added 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with H.Jerusalem and H.Beer Sheva. Newly promoted Bnei Hasharon still closes the standings with four games lost. Maccabi T-A will have a break next round. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against M.Rishon (#8) in Rishon Le-Zion and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
