Very important is a road loss of second ranked Charilaos (3-1) against fifth ranked Peristeri GS (3-1) on Sunday night. Visiting Charilaos was defeated by Peristeri GS in Athens 84-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Charilaos. The game was mostly controlled by Peristeri GS. Charilaos was better in third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Peristeri GS players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Ioannis Athinaiou (194-88, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) and American center Marvin Jones (213-93, college: TSU, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American guard Devonte Green (190-97, college: Indiana) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Jazzmarr Ferguson (185-89, college: IU Southeast) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Peristeri GS moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Charilaos. Peristeri GS will play against Iraklis (#5) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Charilaos will play at home against the league's leader AEK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
