Regular Season Round 9: Gigantes - Cangrejeros 77-71

There was no surprise in Puerto Ordaz where 10th ranked Cangrejeros (2-6) were defeated by third ranked Gigantes (7-2) 77-71. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Cangrejeros' 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. International center Miguel Bolivar (205-92) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) accounted for 23 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Point guard Eduardo Rios (182-88) came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Jesus Ramos (187-97) added 13 points respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Cangrejeros' coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gigantes moved-up to second place. Cangrejeros lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. Gigantes' next round opponent will be Gladiadores (#6). Cangrejeros will play against the league's leader Spartans (#1) and hope to win that game.
