Regular Season Round 9: Spartans - Brillantes 70-59

Leader Spartans delivered the eighth victory. This time they beat 12th ranked Brillantes (1-7) 70-59 in Caracas. They outrebounded Brillantes 51-27 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for international center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Spartans players scored in double figures. Swingman Hector Ortega (195-0) answered with 17 points and Neill Ojeda (190-90) added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Brillantes. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spartans have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Brillantes lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with seven games lost. Spartans will play against Cangrejeros (#10) in Maturin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Brillantes will play against Centauros to get more than just one victory in their record.
