Regular Season Round 10: Kataja - Seagulls 101-102

Eighth-ranked Kataja (4-5) made lots of trouble for top-ranked Seagulls (9-0) in Joensuu. The visitors from Helsinki managed to secure only one-point victory 102-101. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kataja. Kataja was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Seagulls made 29-of-32 charity shots (90.6 percent) during the game, while Kataja only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Kataja was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kendale McCullum (194-96, college: Lewis, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 assists. The former international Antti Kanervo (193-89, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with 33 points (!!!) for the winners. American guard Rashard Odomes (198-96, college: Oklahoma) replied with 32 points and 7 rebounds and American-French forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Kataja. Four Seagulls and five Kataja players scored in double figures. Kataja's coach Petri Virtanen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Seagulls have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-0 record. Kataja at the other side keeps the eighth place with five games lost. Seagulls will play against bottom-ranked Korihait (#12) in Uusikaupunki in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kataja will play on the road against Lahti (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
