Liga Dia top team - Perfumerias Avenida (11-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Zaragoza (4-5) in Salamanca 92-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zaragoza. They outrebounded Zaragoza 33-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Perfumerias Avenida players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a quality performance for Serbian center Nikolina Milic (191-94) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. American swingman Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: UConn) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Four Perfumerias Avenida players scored in double figures. Perfumerias Avenida's coach Roberto Iniguez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Montenegrin center Markeisha Gatling (196-92, college: NC State) came up with 31 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Belgian point guard Julie Vanloo (172-93) added 8 points and 6 assists respectively for Zaragoza in the defeat. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Perfumerias Avenida. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record, which they share with Valencia. Newly promoted Zaragoza dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Clarinos (#4) in San Cristobal in the next round. Zaragoza will play at home against ASEFA Estudiantes (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
