Regular Season Round 9: Trefl 2 Sopot - AZS UMK 78-50

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked AZS UMK (1-5) was outscored on the road by seventh ranked Trefl 2 Sopot (3-3) 78-50 on Saturday. Trefl 2 Sopot forced 20 AZS UMK turnovers. It was a good game for forward Lukasz Klawa (203-1) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Hubert Lalak (176-3) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Michal Samsonowicz (187-98, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Jakub Dusza (200-1) added 6 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for AZS UMK. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Trefl 2 Sopot moved-up to sixth place in Group A. Loser AZS UMK dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Trefl 2 Sopot will face higher ranked Arka 2 (#5) in Gdynia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS UMK will play at home against Astoria 2 (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
