Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Andujar (2-0) beat at home 6th ranked Almeria (1-2) 81-70 on Saturday. Guard Angel Vazquez (190-95) scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and British center Gatluak Thiep (213-92, college: Fayetteville St.) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Andujar's coach Rafa Ramos used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Jordan Hickman (201-96, college: Sonoma St.) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and center Jose-Antonio Moreno (204-98) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Almeria players scored in double figures. Andujar moved-up to second place in Group D-A. Loser Almeria dropped to the eighth position with two games lost. Andujar will face Estepona (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Almeria will play against Benahavis and hope to win that game.
