Regular Season Round 9: AZS PCz - Polonia Bytom 45-86

No shocking result in a game when leader Polonia Bytom (8-0) crushed 7th ranked AZS PCz (4-5) in Czestochowa 86-45 on Saturday. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PCz's 28. Polonia Bytom forced 29 AZS PCz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for Emil Podkowinski (194-88) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Jakub Czyz (205-95) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and guard Adrian Placzek (182-85) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for AZS PCz. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Polonia Bytom. They used an opportunity after AZS AGH KR lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position in Group C. Loser AZS PCz keeps the seventh place with five games lost. Polonia Bytom will face league's leader AZS AGH KR in Krakow in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. AZS PCz will play on the road against Bielsko-Biala (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
